Addiction

Engaged and Underage
To mormon housewife blogs.
I know, I know. As a feminist and hippy mama, I am not so into the housewife dynamic (ironic as I would be considered a housewife, since I stay home, but I call myself a Student, because, well, I'm going to school full time too). Anyway, I was browsing my favorite alternative mom blog and found THIS article, and as a bored, and addicted blog reader, I had to check them out. Oh MY GOD!!! Talk about perfection. These moms are basically 21 year old moms who only wear J-Crew and throw fabulous dinner parties for their equally young friends. (Age aside, considering I too am a 21 year-old mom.) But seriously, it's so much fun to read and see a little into these women's lives. These are women who have chosen these paths and are SO HAPPY. I love it. I love seeing cute, crafty women being adorable. And I love eating cookies and drinking tea while I do it.

Some moms do Stroller Strides

Some moms do stroller strides, some moms go to the gym. Those types of things have never been this mama's cup of tea, so you know what I do to stay in shape? ROCK CLIMB, SLACK LINE and HULA HOOP! Yes, I like to get wild in the sunshine. I was like this before the babe and I will continue to be like this. Adventure is in my blood.
For my hooping work out, I like to go outside, in the backyard, (I can, this is Southern California) and crank up "Beatfanatic" on pandora. Then I throw on a sports bra (or bikini top), and a pair of tie-dye hot shorts (with no cares as to flabs or lack of tan), and dance with my hoop! There are lots of great places to learn how to hoop. There are the videos from Hoopnotica (they also sell weighted hoops) and many many youtube channels.
Here are a few of my favorites:
These are just to give you some ideas about what you can do. I recommend classes and meet up groups. Or just get outside and bust a groove.

Here was a cute little survey I found on this tumblr :

1. How did you get into hooping?

In high school, a few friends and I fell in love with these older girls who hooped at a local beach. We bought hoops from them and have been hooping ever since.

2. tell me about the first time you hooped in front of people

I hoop at the beach a lot and it's always so much fun. People stop and watch (even if you aren't very good) because it's so darn cool. I love bringing extra hoops for other kids and people to play with!

3.Describe the feeling you have when you hoop

I feel SEXY. I'm not the best dancer, but when I hoop, I feel like a gypsy queen.

4.What is some advice you could give someone?

Just have fun! And don't be afraid of what you look like, cuz you look HOT

5. Do you think you’ll continue to hoop when you’re older?

I hope so!

6. How did you learn to hoop?

I learned from the girls I bought my hoop from. They used to have free classes. But now I just learn from my cute friends who have way more time on their hands to hoop.

7.What are some benefits you, personally, get from hooping?

Confidence booters fro sure! I feel slimmer and sexier. I feel healthier, more full of life and more playful! Plus it's a great excuse to buy a sexy jumpsuit

Now, I leave you with a neat video that I hope makes you go out and hoop!

Soup of the Evening, beautiful soup!

I made some awesome soup the other night! With lentils, which I love and highly recommend to everyone. I used this recipe which was super easy and incorporated things I already had in the kitchen (which is huge in our house, the more we can use, w/o having to go BUY more, the better). The lentils I've had for about 6 months and had yet to use them (after a cooking flop with a different soup, before I liked onions). The batch of soup was huge. After we ate our fill, I added more water to the pot and let it simmer for a tad longer, making the soup a little more broth-y and making it last a heck of a lot longer. (See below)
This is the whole pot in containers, which we might be eating for a week if I don't manage to pawn it off on all the sick friends we have right now. The three top containers are hanging out in the freezer right now, because if there is one thing I love, it's my freezer. It's like I just discovered it! I put everything in there and it lasts for so long! (Obviously!!!! How did I not get this before?)
Did I mention this is totally gluten free and vegan! And there's nothing more nourishing than a veggie broth! If anyone is going to cook veggies, they better be in a soup, then you get to drink all the nutrients that were cooked out the the veg!

DIRT AND HONEY TUMBLER
dude. look at all the fun things i like to look at.

SAMOSAS

So for the super bowl (even though we are not football people, we are friend people) I made some sweet vegan samosas. (Which are usually vegan anyway). I got the recipe from Kittee, a xgfx (gluten free vegan) who provides AWESOME recipes that are planet friendly and digestive friendly (for us gf free people). Check out her super cute video where she explains how to make these samosas! (And oooo at her cute hair. I think I'm going to be needing super short bangs soon.)
Please excuse my crazy cramped kitchen. Things tend to pile up. It looks nicer right now, we cleaned it. HA.

BRING IT ON WORLD

So, I have been so compelled as to begin this blog as an outlet. As a means of sharing with all of you out there, what I love, how I live, and what the hell I believe. I am super passionate about the earth, what I eat and what impact I have on this planet. Also, as a mother of a young son, I want to empower other women to live their lives fearlessly and passionately, relying on their instinct and their own paths.
Please enjoy every post, and stick with me regardless of sporadic posting.
Live life fully!
